Trend Basketball's 2021 NBA Mock Draft

Pick #1: Detroit Pistons | Cade Cunningham | PG | Oklahoma State

Cade Cunningham has been the consensus number one pick all year long and unlike with some draft classes, this has not changed leading up to draft day. The Pistons have the opportunity to draft a potentially franchise-altering player to flick their rebuild into overdrive. Cunningham is the complete package. Aside from his incredible playmaking skills, he showed to be a beautiful shooter who can get his shot from anywhere on the floor. All of this combined with his great size for a guard, Cunningham can immediately raise the floor of this team and help make the Pistons a scary franchise moving forward.

Pick #2: Houston Rockets | Jalen Green | SG | G League Ignite

As we have gotten closer to the draft, talks that the Rockets are settling on preferring Green over Mobley have only strengthened. If they draft Green, they would be landing an offensive weapon with superstar upside. Green still needs to work on his technical skills but his raw talent on both ends of the floor has been more than enough to place him firmly in the top three of this loaded draft class. The Rockets will now have a core of Green, Wood, Tate, and Porter Jr to build around and the future will be looking bright for Houston.

Pick #3: Cleveland Cavaliers | Evan Mobley | C | USC

The Cavaliers have been the most active of all the top three teams in trade talks to potentially move down in the draft, but Mobley may just be too good to pass up on. Mobley is the best big in this draft and has a really high floor which makes the Cavs almost certain they won’t be drafting a bust. Mobley is an extremely versatile big who can play both inside and on the wing depending on what the team needs. He will need to improve his shot-making to become a real threat as a stretch big, but his fundamentals will carry him through until he masters his shooting. The Cavs are landing a great third piece to their rebuild with this pick.
